Wrestler | High School | Division | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Eli Stickley | St. Paris Graham | II | 12 |
Tyler Warner | Claymont | II | 11 |
Jake Speiss | Delta | III | 11 |
Alex Mackall | Walsh Jesiut | I | 11 |
Jake Newhouse | Massillon Perry | I | 12 |
The senior Stickley is the clear cut #1 as he has dominated all Ohio opponents this season including a major decision of defending D1 state champion, Mackall. The only opponent that was too much for Eli was #1 nationally ranked, Lee of PA, in the Ironman finals. The 13-2 match has been Lee's closest match of the season.
Warner and Mackall are neck in neck with each other, both owning one point victories over Newhouse this season.
The mystery 120lber is Jake Spiess, as he has dropped down from a brutal 126 pound class statewide, and wrestling junior national champion, Assad, to a 6-2 loss.
Newhouse has always been 'right there' with the elite wrestlers of any weight he has been in, just hasn't officially pulled off the major victories. He is the best of the rest from around the state.
