It’s been over a decade since Danny Mullan first learned about NUWAY at the NHSCA National Tournament.  NUWAY, directed by Dave Dean and Rob Stehley, quickly caught the attention of Mullan.

A long time promoter of New Jersey youth tournaments, Mullan saw NUWAY as a great opportunity to give wrestlers of The Garden State more support and exposure to the sport. The vision of Dean and Stehley was clear, to create tournaments where parents can bring their young athletes to gain valuable wrestling experience as well as great family experiences.  Dean and Stehley began creating state chapters such as MYWAY (Michigan), NYWAY (New York) and recently the installation of a New Jersey chapter, NJWAY.  Directed by Nolan James, NJWAY has been growing rapidly and is looking forward to sending a team to compete for the first time at the annual Grand River Rumble on July 17th in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Mullan, a New Jersey native, is excited to invite all other NUWAY state chapters such as PENNWAY to the third annual NUWAY Summer Nationals. At NUWAY Summer Nationals, the East Coast’s major destination event,families can bring their youth grapplers to the beautiful Jersey Shore July 31st-Aug 2nd. The tournament will include a high school team tournament, individual tournament and sub-high school team tournament the first, second, and third day, respectively. With a maximum limit of 28 teams, the high school team tournament is expected to close the field for the third consecutive year.

As for the individual tournament, over 300 wrestlers from all over the country will compete in their age and weight brackets for titles. The sub-high school team tournament is a new installation to the event and allows younger wrestlers to gain valuable experience by competing as a team as well as giving families more time to enjoy the town of Long Branch.

The venue, outfitted with fifteen full sized mats and air conditioning, is located blocks away from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. By bringing youth wrestlers to venues where they can grow with their family and/or team, NUWAY hopes to enrich the all-around experience of the youth wrestler through the event.
