Attention all wrestlers and wrestling fans. Today is the first of many #freakalerts, frequent announcements on the upcoming RMN Events/NUWAY Freakshow of Amateur Wrestling Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 24-25th.

Today’s first #freakalert will showcase Nestor Taffur, a member of the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club, and part of the Pro Wrestling League. RMN Events/NUWAY have created a three-event schedule at Freakshow, showcasing the elite level wrestling of Finger Lakes Wrestling Club and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club.

PROWL is a groundbreaking new league that’s bringing wrestling clubs together and giving veteran wrestlers an outlet to compete professionally. These are wrestlers who are devoting their life to the pursuit of Olympic and professional wrestling goals and dreams.

Taffur began as an inexperienced wrestler like anybody else, participating in the sport recreationally with his buddies. Taffur grew up in Bound Brook, New Jersey, and he attributes his success in wrestling to being immersed in the town’s strong wrestling community.

“Being in the town as a younger wrestler, and going to the high school, you saw how important wrestling was in town and it was a good atmosphere,” he said.

“I got off to a late start so I was playing the catch up game. But I had a lot of desire and really enjoyed the sport, so I put my time in, and by the end of my junior year I made it to the New Jersey States for the first time. I had visions to place in the state, I beat a couple top guys that summer and things took off when I started training year round.”

“I got offered a full ride at Boston," he continued. "I was able to catch eye from my college coaches, had a couple of big wins. Where I’m at now, chasing Olympic and World level dreams isn’t out of my reach, so that’s what’s keeping me going.”

Taffur was adamant on how PROWL is improving wrestling by giving wrestlers more options to pursue the sport after college

“The league is providing more opportunity for wrestlers like myself and other guys coming out of college, who are chasing the sport, but also want to find ways to support their training, and get paid for their hard work. It's something that wrestling doesn’t have so its going to continue to grow the sport at a high level.”

RMN Events/NUWAY Freakshow will offer a unique opportunity for young wrestlers to compete alongside Olympic hopefuls and professional wrestlers.

“It’s awesome to have senior level wrestlers and guys who are chasing Olympic dreams right in front of these younger guys that may not get to see that at a normal youth tournament. To get exposure to high level wrestling…it’s awesome for the sport,” said Taffur.

Don’t miss out on a chance to witness the elite level of wrestling Taffur and other PROWL competitors represent at RMN Events/NUWAY Freakshow of Wrestling this October. Stay tuned for more #Freakalerts
